Disfunktion's soul exemplifies the essence of R&B and its elecrtrifying groove. The showcased front line singers have that thing that takes the crowd where they want to go. Powerhouse vocals underlined by velvety bass lines is where they are at. Whether it is soul, funk, or disco, Disfunktion has a way of recreating the era in which timeless music was born, yet keeping it modern. The band's tight composition creates an air of gospel, and the singers' personal, and humorous, rhetoric keeps the evening friendly and light with a sense of family ties, like church on a Sunday morning.
Tuesday nights at the Cafe Wha? is completely interactive, a freeing dialogue between two characters, the musicians and the audience. The audience is extremely involved with Disfunktion, from singing along, dancing with them or a hearty applause, their participation is a huge part of the show. Midnight welcomes the "World Famous" open-mic. Anybody is allowed to sign-up and take center stage with Disfunktion. Remember this is not the Apollow, at the Cafe Wha? there is no booing or disrespecting the performers, so leave all hesitations at home!
